OUR MEMBERS

A National Footprint with Local Impact

MBCA members span every region of the country. They differ in geography, history, and strategy — but share a common commitment: supporting the businesses, communities, and local economies they serve.

Collectively, MBCA banks represent more than $3 trillion in assets, employ over 250,000 people, and operate through 13,000+ branches nationwide. Many began as hometown institutions and remain deeply rooted in their communities — while also building the scale and capabilities needed to serve growing businesses and compete nationally. They sit in a distinct and important middle: large enough to deliver innovation, credit capacity, and full-service capabilities, yet grounded in relationship banking and local decision-making.

In many ways, they are boring in the best possible way.

They take deposits and put them to work — funding businesses, supporting payrolls, and enabling steady economic growth. They are not driven by trading or episodic activity, but by consistent, relationship-based lending and service. This model is not always well understood — but it is essential.

Mid-size banks are the critical middle of the banking system, where deposits are reliably converted into credit and where local knowledge meets meaningful scale.
